Being ranked in the top 5, 10 or 15 percent of the graduating class is not an easy feat. That's why Comal ISD students who earn this ranking are celebrated and honored. Here's a list of the 2021 honor students.

Four Comal ISD students from the Class of 2021 were National Merit Finalists this year, and one was a National Merit Scholarship Winner. This places these graduates among the top 1 percent of 1.5 million students.

Comal ISD is proud of its students who choose to serve in the United States military after graduation. The Class of 2021 continues this tradition to serve with students who are enlisting, entering military academies and attending college on ROTC scholarships with the intent to serve.

The Class of 2021 from Comal ISD walked the stage at five graduation ceremonies recently. Collectively, they earned more than $26.3 million in scholarships, 58 joined the United States military with three appointments to military academies and four were named National Merit Finalists including one National Merit Scholarship Winner.

Comal ISD Superintendent Andrew Kim has been appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to serve a six-year term on the State Board of Educator Certification.

This year's District Teachers of the Year share the same last name, but they are not related. They do, however, share the same philosophy when it comes to teaching - show up and focus on the relationships.

Davenport High and Johnson Ranch Elementary have something to brag about - they are the cleanest campuses among the district's secondary and elementary campuses, according to GermBlast data.

Bass fishing as a sport has really taken off, and Comal ISD has one of the best teams in the state of Texas. Highlights of this year's winning season include the Hill Country Division Championship title, anglers of the year and more.

Student-athletes from Canyon, Canyon Lake and Smithson Valley High Schools signed National Letters of Intent to play the sport of their choice at the collegiate level in what may be the final signing days of the school year.
