Smithson Valley athlete Colton Thomasson is being honored as a 2023 All-American on Thursday, Nov. 3.

The Comal ISD chess program kicked off its 10th anniversary with the first of four district-wide chess tournaments at Pieper High School. The host team took the top spot as the high school champions along with Danville Middle, Rebecca Creek Elementary and Oak Creek Elementary.

Special education athletes look forward to competing in the district-wide STAR bowling tournaments ever year. This year was no exception with approximately 180 participants in high school and middle school competing on separate days.

More than 100 student artists were honored at the Comal ISD Fall Art Show which showcased art pieces featuring watercolor, sketches, mixed media and more.

Comal ISD's annual College, Career and Military Fair was a big success with students and families having the opportunity to speak with more than 70 recruiters from a wide variety of colleges, industries, trade schools and military branches of service.

Students and their families along with Comal ISD staff members took advantage of a beautiful weekend in October to volunteer in their communities. From pulling weeds and planting flowers to painting walls and cleaning floors, this year's Big Serve Weekend was packed with good deeds.

For the second year in a row, a Comal ISD PTA received a grant from the TEXAS YES Project. This year, the grant totaled $15,000 and will be used to expand the Spring Branch Middle School robotics program.

Three Canyon Lake High School students will represent Comal ISD as District 10 officers for SkillsUSA, a national career and technical student organization that helps prepare students for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.

Comal ISD's career and technical education (CTE) manufacturing program just received a $10,000 donation along with a new community partner. With the opening of its state-of-the-art automotive facility in New Braunfels, technology company Continental showed how serious it is about education with the donation and behind-the-scenes student and staff tours.
