Smithson Valley Student Named Semi-Finalist in FIRST Robotics Dean's List

June 28, 2021 - The Smithson Valley Robotics team ended the school year with one of its leaders named as a semi-finalist in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Dean’s List.

Incoming senior, Monali Baker, was recognized for her honor during the Comal ISD Board of Trustees June 26 meeting. Similar to the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Award, students who are named semi-finalist, finalist and winner of the FIRST Dean’s List are great examples of student leaders.

They have led their teams and communities to increased awareness for FIRST and its mission. Baker has been involved and active in robotics since the seventh grade at Smithson Valley Middle School. The First Robotics Dean’s List Award competition included the submission of a written essay and two rounds of interviews.

FIRST provides students the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology while promoting leadership.

Congratulations!
